Scheduled for release in March… Seo Won-il, Head of Business Development Division, “Realizing Western-style medieval fantasy in a realistic way”
[Deal Site Reporter Hwang Ji-hyeon] “While Wemade’s Mir 4 and Mir M are in the oriental fantasy multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) genre, I think Night Crow will be able to gain popularity from global users with its Western-style medieval fantasy background. Knight “Crow can show greater success than Mir has achieved.”
Seo Won-il, head of Wemade’s business development division, said this at the ‘Xangle Blockchain Foundation Week 2024’ held at ADM Space in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 22nd, expressing expectations for the blockchain game ‘Night Crow’ to be released in March.
Seo, the head of the division, said, “Wemade has achieved various achievements by introducing Mir, which integrates blockchain into games,” and added, “Mir, which is an oriental game, was recognized in South America, Europe, and the UK, even though it was a genre that may be unfamiliar to users in regions other than Asia.” “I received it,” he said.
He continued, “Night Crow, which we are introducing this time, is set in a Western-style medieval fantasy, and we believe it will be well-received overseas without resistance.” He added, “If you are asked what content has had an impact in the blockchain game market in 2024, Night Crow’s name will come up. “I think it will come,” he added.
Night Crow will be released in 170 countries around the world on March 12th. The newly released global version of Night Crow is equipped with blockchain elements such as a token economy based on Wemade’s blockchain mainnet Wemix 3.0 and a character non-fungible token (NFT) that compresses character and user information into one. However, it cannot be played in Korea and China due to blockchain game regulations.
The blockchain technology applied to Night Crow will be revealed later. Director Seo added, “Information on how to incorporate blockchain into Night Crow and tokenomics will be revealed soon, and we will continue to make new attempts that have not been shown before.”
Wemade also emphasized that it is engaging in blockchain business with sincerity. Seo, the head of the division, said, “Currently, there are about 2,000 employees at Wemade, and about half of them are doing blockchain-related work.” He added, “If you look at blockchain companies around the world, the company has close to 1,000 people working in blockchain.” “There is only Wemade,” he explained. He continued, “Rather than simply appealing to the large number of people, I hope people will see this as the result of the belief that blockchain can change the world.”
Meanwhile, Wemade introduced the ‘Wemix DApp (decentralized application) business support program’ to revitalize the Wemix 3.0 ecosystem at the event venue. This is a program that provides a total of 500 million won to teams that want to develop DApps using Wemix blockchain technology. Wemix worth 20 million won will be provided to up to 10 teams that submit Wemix DApp plans within a month. If the DApp is onboarded to the Wemix chain in the future, an additional 30 million won worth of Wemix will be paid.
